## Why it lasted
- Logistics is the moat. The website is a storefront on a warehouse network.
- AWS funded the retail years that looked unprofitable on purpose.
- Prime trained a reflex: if it can arrive tomorrow, you do not comparison shop.

## Near deaths
- The 2000 bust. The stock collapsed. The warehouses did not.
- Every 'Amazon killer' (Webvan, Diapers.com, Shopify-for-everything) either died or became a merchant on Amazon.

## What would finish it
- A regulator that actually splits retail and cloud, plus a generation that does not trust the default cart. Possible. Not priced in.
