## Why it lasted
- S3 and EC2 became the nouns. Every other cloud is compared to them.
- The enterprise sales machine plus the primitive set is a two-decade head start.
- It prints the money that lets Amazon retail look like a hobby.

## Near deaths
- Azure and GCP exist because AWS left money on the table, not because AWS stumbled.
- The 2017 S3 outage taught the internet it had a single point of failure. They still did not leave.

## What would finish it
- A developer default that is not AWS (Cloudflare, a simpler PaaS) plus enterprises getting tired of the bill. The bill is the product.
