FutureSplash, then Macromedia, then Adobe. End of life 2020. The web got quieter and safer and less weird.

## Why it lasted
- The web's animation, games, and video layer for a decade. Newgrounds and YouTube's first player.

## Near deaths
- Jobs' Thoughts on Flash, 2010. Mobile would not be a plugin. The rest was a long goodbye.

## What would finish it
- Apple, HTML5, and Adobe's own end-of-life on 31 Dec 2020. The banner ads went with it.
