# Gumroad

Standing (still-up). Founded 2011-01-01.
Site: [gumroad.com](https://gumroad.com)

Sahil Lavingia, 2011. Still the link you paste under a product hunt for a digital good.

## Why it lasted
- Sahil Lavingia kept it alive through a near-death and turned that into the company story.
- Creators selling a file still need a boring cart. Gumroad is that cart.

## Near deaths
- The 2020s layoff and 'we almost died' post. It became marketing. The product stayed up.

## What would finish it
- Stripe Payment Links plus a Notion page, plus Lemon Squeezy / Polar for the software crowd.
