John Resig, 2006. Still loading. Not still chosen.

## Why it lasted
- It is still on a terrifying number of pages because WordPress plugins and old dashboards never die.
- The $() brain is how a generation learned the DOM.

## Near deaths
- A decade of 'you might not need jQuery'. True for new apps. False for the fossil web.

## What would finish it
- Those plugins rewriting. They will not. Zombie is the steady state.
