## Why it lasted
- Document as default was a real relief from ORMs, and Atlas made it a business.
- The driver experience and the JSON-shaped brain still match how a lot of apps think.

## Near deaths
- The 'web scale' joke and the lost-data years. They hardened. Postgres ate some of the lunch with JSONB.

## What would finish it
- Postgres remaining 'good enough documents' plus a license/pricing story that annoys the remaining fans.
