Shawn Fanning, 1999. The original Napster died in 2001. Everything after is a costume.

## Why it lasted
- Peer-to-peer music as a default. It lasted long enough to change the industry and not long enough to become it.

## Near deaths
- Lawsuits were not a near-death. They were the business model colliding with the law.

## What would finish it
- Injunctions, 2001. The brand later became a legal store. The original network is the tombstone.
