# nginx

Igor Sysoev, 2004. Still in front of a lot of the web that is not Cloudflare.

## Why it lasted
- The config you paste when Apache feels like a museum.
- It became the default reverse proxy. Defaults at that layer last decades.

## Near deaths
- F5 bought it. Caddy and Traefik and Cloudflare ate some of the fun. nginx kept the include files.

## What would finish it
- A proxy that is the default in every tutorial written after 2028. Caddy is trying.
