## Why it lasted
- Terminal multiplexers are infrastructure for people who live on SSH.
- It replaced GNU Screen for a lot of users without a marketing department.

## Near deaths
- VS Code remote and web terminals. The people who need tmux still need tmux.

## What would finish it
- A default terminal that does sessions as well, everywhere. Not today.
