# Vercel

Standing (still-up). Founded 2015-11-16.
Site: [vercel.com](https://vercel.com)

Guillermo Rauch, Zeit 2015, Vercel later. Still the deploy button for the React web.

## Why it lasted
- Next.js plus git push is a default for a generation of front-end apps.
- The preview URL as a unit of work. That is a workflow moat.

## Near deaths
- Netlify had JAMstack. Vercel had Next. The framework was the distribution.
- AWS is always cheaper at scale. Vercel is not selling cheap. It is selling the path of least resistance.

## What would finish it
- Next becoming truly portable and the default host becoming Cloudflare or a hyperscaler button. In motion.
