# Yahoo

Hollow (zombie). Founded 1994-03-02.
Site: [yahoo.com](https://yahoo.com)

Jerry Yang and David Filo, 1994. Still a homepage for someone. Not for the industry.

## Why it lasted
- A media and mail brand that still has logins from the 90s.
- Apollo / Verizon / Apollo again: financial engineering as life support.

## Near deaths
- Google ate search. Facebook ate attention. Yahoo ate itself in acquisitions.

## What would finish it
- A private equity slide that sells the remaining properties for parts. Always in progress.
